Heart health is an urgent crisis in the United States.
Every twenty seconds someone has a heart attack or a stroke. And 80% of premature heart attacks and strokes are preventable.
We know what behaviors promote heart health. And there are safe and effective diagnostics and medications for conditions like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes. Yet cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death, with an annual societal cost that exceeds $500 billion.
The status quo is unacceptable and demands immediate action, especially since we have the solutions today to achieve a better tomorrow.
At Miga, we exist to help people lead the long, healthy lives they deserve, by preventing the next million heart attacks and strokes. This purpose couldn’t be more personal for us as founders.
From a young age, Jarrad experienced firsthand how limited access to healthcare can undermine health. As a physician and leader, he has devoted his life to advocating for more inclusive, equitable, and innovative healthcare. In his most recent role, he led corporate strategy and innovation at a public biotech company, resulting in FDA-approved medicines and new digital products in women’s health.
Dre has been enthralled with technology’s ability to improve health since high school, and has developed products for clinical trial patients, addiction sufferers, and isolated older adults. He led patient enrollment at a tech-enabled drug development company in his most recent role, which further opened his eyes to the inequities in healthcare. These experiences are what drive his commitment to create a future that leaves no one behind.
We are thrilled to announce that Miga has raised a $12 million seed round to build the future of heart health. Quiet Capital led the round, with participation from Asymmetric Capital Partners, Floating Point, VamosVentures, Alumni Ventures, Adapt Ventures, Lux Capital, and Wilson Sonsini. Co-founders from companies including Cityblock Health, PillPack, Newfront, and Whisper also invested.
This is an important milestone in our journey to build the category-defining company that we all deserve. It’s a journey that will require a world-class team of life-savers, change-makers, and forward-thinkers.
In heart health, every second counts. So if you’re a dreamer and a doer who is ready to create the future we so urgently need, reach out about joining the team. The stakes couldn’t be higher.
